Don Aase - 1989

Don Aase was a relief pitcher who spent one season with the New York Mets in 1989.
 The Mets signed Don Aase as a free agent on February 20, 1989.  He had previously pitched for the Boston Red Sox (1977), California Angels (1978-1982, 1984) and Baltimore Orioles (1985-1988). 

Don Aase made his Mets debut on April 3, 1989 - opening day against the St Louis Cardinals at Shea Stadium.  He pitched two scoreless innings, saving the game for Dwight Gooden, in the Mets 8-4 victory.

Don Aase would pitch in 49 games during the 1989 seasons for the Mets.  He compiled a 1 and 5 record with two saves with a 3.94 ERA. 

His only victory with the Mets came on June 4, 1989 against the Pittsburgh Pirates at Shea Stadium.  He pitched 2 scoreless innings allowing just one hit.

Don Aase got up to bat five times for the Mets during 1989 going 0 for 5 with 3 strikeouts.

Following the 1989 seasons Don Aase signed as a free agent with the Los Angeles Dodgers where he pitched one more season before retiring.
