The Mets jumped out to an early lead scoring a run un the first inning, but that was it for the night as the Mets wasted a strong start by Johan Santana.
Ike Davis singled home Jesus Feliciano in the first inning but than former Met Livan Hernandez shut down the Mets before giving way to Drew Storen and Matt Capps. Johan Santana pitched his best game in over a month yielding just one run while striking out seven in seven innings. Pedro Feliciano loaded the bases in the ninth inning before giving way to Ryota Igarashi who gave up a sacrifice fly giving the Nationals the 2-1 win. It was Feliciano’s second loss in three days.
For the second straight game Jose Reyes did not start for the Mets.
The loss dropped the Mets to 44 and 35.
